those turtles - at least 2 are male (long tails) are not very healthy looking. One seems to have eye ick and the several appear to have a shell distress - as evidenced by the discoloration around the scutes.
thanks for the insight, ben. i took the picture thinking they were sort of a sad-looking lot. anyway, their health problems are over, they've been eaten.
